Team Work is Key To Establishing Your Online Business
Team work and how important is it. I was out shopping in Redcliffe today and come across this great little gift shop. My wife was looking for something to stick on one of our walls at home and she came across a whole lot of geese, made of metal, all joined together with one goose leading from the front.
When closely looking at it reminded me of the story of the Geese of and how important Team Work is in establishing any business of which I have used many times over the years in building engagement and culture amongst teams. This how it goes:
TRUE MEANING OF TEAM
1. During the fall, when you see Geese heading south for the winter flying along in V formation, you might consider what science has discovered about why they fly that way: As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in V formation, the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own. That’s what I call team work! Absolutely incredible!
PEOPLE WHO SHARE A COMMON DIRECTION AND SENSE OF COMMUNITY CAN GET WHERE THEY ARE GOING MORE QUICKLY AND EASILY BECAUSE THEY ARE TRAVELLING ON THE THRUST OF ONE ANOTHER.
2. When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it.
IF WE HAVE AS MUCH SENSE AS A GOOSE, WE WILL STAY IN FORMATION WITH THOSE WHO ARE HEADED THE SAME WAY WE ARE.
3. When the lead goose gets tired it rotates back into the wing formation and another goose flies in the point position.
IT’S SENSIBLE TO TAKE TURNS WITH DEMANDING JOBS & LEADERSHIP. PEOPLE (OR GEESE FLYING SOUTH) ARE INTERDEPENDENT ON EACH OTHER’S SKILLS, CAPABILITIES, GIFTS, TALENTS & RESOURCES. LEARN FROM OTHERS.
4. Geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
WE NEED TO MAKE SURE OUR HONKING IS ENCOURAGING. THE POWER OF ENCOURAGEMENT IS THE QUALITY OF HONKING WE SEEK.
5. Finally…and this is important…when a goose gets sick or is wounded by gunshots, and falls out of formation, two other geese fall out with that goose and follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly, or until it dies; and only then do they launch out on their own, or with another formation, to catch up with their group. Truly amazing team work.
IF WE HAVE THE SENSE OF A GOOSE, WE WILL STAND BY EACH OTHER LIKE THAT!!!
